On recent visits to agent’s offices, there are many comments on how “slow” business is.  Many agencies have had to refocus how they are going to write new policies and add to their commission income.

One area that comes up is account development.  Asking current customers what other items they own that need insurance.  These agents have learned;

• When writing a new policy, ask what other assets the insured might own and need insurance on.
• Call current customers the agency has only one or two policies on, and ask about additional insurance needs
